More about my journey
Where to begin?
20 years or so ago, I took a well-deserved vacation abroad that would be life-changing! As going on a vacation often tends to do, I made many realizations as I came back to my center and allowed myself to rest and recuperate. It led me to reinvent my life with the intention of reinventing myself! And I didn’t have to fake my death and steal someone’s identity, like they do in the movies, to achieve this.
No, I changed the course of my life by leaving behind a lifestyle that didn’t suit or nourish me. I took a leap of faith.
I was experiencing a quarter-life crisis. Suffering from a professional burnout, I abandoned my corporate job, moved out of my apartment, stored my belongings and entrusted my beloved dog to my mom and brother.
I left behind societal expectations as well as my family's and off I went backpacking solo to Costa Rica with the intention of never returning to the life I was leaving behind. I am so grateful I had the courage to take the plunge and not let my fears and doubts or those of my family get in the way. Because what a memorable and enriching life journey I have had since then! WOW!
At the age of 27 years old, backpacking in Costa Rica, I found a small hostel in a beautiful valley in the Cloud Forest and within a few weeks I was working there as the assistant cook and English teacher. I quickly became the main cook and eventually the general manager of this quaint hostel. There I found real connection.
How I loved what I did! I felt so alive. It was the best experience of my life up to that point! As a result, my body healed as it produced happy hormones and stopped producing stress hormones which are so harmful when we are constantly in the fight or flight mode.
I forged so many friendships with amazing people from around the world! I felt like I belonged! I had a knack of making people feel at home away from home! I took care of our guests with such gusto. I cooked healthy and delicious meals for them and I listened to their interesting life stories. Without realizing it, that is where my career as a coach really began. Hearing their stories and sharing my own was so fulfilling and rewarding. I inspired others with my own life story of not settling and not conforming! I became a confidant to many local people too. I was told I was a good listener. I felt like I was making a difference. I felt on top of the world working with the owners of the hostel creating an unforgettable experience for our guests. I was not making a lot of money, but it didn’t matter. I felt nourished.
I eventually left Montaña Linda with the dream to create a very special place, a wellness center in the tropics where I could make people feel at home away from home, pamper and inspire them to live an inspiring and healthy life ...
Now, 20 some years later, I am living the life I envisioned! My life journey with all its ups and downs has prepared me for this awesome opportunity. Armando, my life partner and I have created an amazing home and retreat center where we offer our guests an unforgettable experience connecting with nature, the perfect environment to connect with one's self, grow, feel nurtured, etc. I have the pleasure and privilege of hosting wellness retreats, sharing about subjects that fascinate me (wellness in all its forms) making our guests feel at home away from home, inspiring them to take better care of themselves, and much more. Our guest leave here rejuvenated. It is beautiful to witness the transformation.
Plus, I have the privilege of offering these nourishing experiences on a spectacular piece of land that is part of the big family of Natural Protected Areas of Peru.
I am on a wellness quest. I have been my whole life. And I have the pleasure, the honor of sharing what I learned, what I practice, etc. in a retreat setting in the Amazon rainforest on a land called Tambo Ilusion. I am a lifelong learner and my mission is to share with others what I can to make their experience with us and on this planet nourishing and memorable.
